VZWraps

Environmental Mission

VZWraps fabric gift bags are an eco-friendly alternative to traditional wrapping paper, paper that often can't be recycled because it is dyed or laminated, contains non-paper additives, or is too thin to have good-quality fibers. According to the Clean Air Council, an additional 5 million tons of waste is generated in the U.S. during the Christmas holidays. and a substantial portion of that is wrapping paper and shopping bags. VZWraps strives to reduce trash by providing a reusable alternative with our fabric gift bags and to make environmentally-responsible choices in all aspects of the business. It’s not always the easiest or cheapest option, but we’re committed to looking for green alternatives wherever we can.

Production

Sewn in Pennsylvania, the bag sizes are based on no-waste cutting, so that all the fabric is used leaving no scraps behind. The bags are made from 100% imported cotton, and we are adding more gift bags made from organic, GOTS-certified cotton as we find suitable fabrics. Most of the ribbons are made in the USA, primarily from recycled materials. Our eco-grosgrain ribbon is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, and the eco-satin is made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester.

Shipping

We are shipping fabric, so it needs to be protected from the elements.  First your bags are wrapped in tissue paper made from 100% recycled paper. Then it goes into our Eco-Enclose biodegradable, reusable (two sealing strips), and made in the USA envelopes. Larger orders ship in a USPS Priority Mail box which is Cradle-to-Cradle certified, a reused shipping box, or a new box made from recycled materials. Because the boxes are not water resistant, your bags may be placed inside a plastic bag. Rest assured that plastic bag is being reused.  We save bags from fabric bolts, ribbon shipments, and everything else to reuse when we need them!

Product Packaging

For bags that are shipped directly to customers, the only packaging used is a paper clip. Why? To neatly secure the ribbon so it doesn’t get tangled or wrinkled during shipping.
